Staff Reporter: The general manager of a well-established Bangladeshi-owned home care service business in Jamaica, New York, lost his job following the publication of the news in the Bangla press. There are widespread complaints that women workers are being sexually harassed regularly at the hands of the general manager.
Last Saturday (May 11), a report titled ‘ Sexual harassment complaint against Bangladeshi home care manager in New York’ was published in Bangla Press. On the day of publication of the report, he was verbally warned by the concerned authorities. He was sacked on Monday (May 13) after just two days, according to reliable sources.
About half a dozen women were sexually harassed by Kazi Mohammad Shafiullah alias Kazi, the general manager of a well-established Bangladeshi-owned ‘home care’ service business in Jamaica, New York. Not only this, many male workers are also fed up with his misbehaviour. Some of the employees have complained to the owner of the business place. Due to the lack of proper investigation and remediation of the incident, the level of sexual harassment of women workers and mistreatment of male workers is increasing day by day. After the news was published in the Bangla press, the owner of the business took quick action.
Noted,Kazi Mohammad Shafiullah came to the United States from the United Kingdom in just 8/9 months and got the job of General Manager of a Bangladeshi-owned home care service business in New York. He came here empty handed. He had no employment including food and lodging. The owner of the business was moved by his helplessness and appointed him to that position. But in a short period of time, he has become the owner of a huge amount of money through various strategies and due to the simplicity of the owner. Jointly owns a restaurant called ‘Mezban House’ in Corona, New York. It has been alleged that the former female employee of the same is secretly running the business by appointing the manager of the restaurant.
–At the end of 6 months of joining the job, Kazi acts as if he is the owner of the company with the employees. Men and women workers were regularly ruled. Whenever he sees any new female worker in the business, he gives bad proposals. As a result of his behavior, many people have left their jobs and are now sitting at home, said a woman worker who did not want to be named. He is also known to have sent text messages to many women workers with lewd proposals for lunch and dinner.
He also said that if a female employee of the business named Momo did not agree to the bad proposal, he would trap her by misrepresenting her official work. At one point he forced her to be his night companion. The two are currently living together. Kazi has a wife and children in London. He regularly quarrels with his wife as she knows about his deterioration of character. All the employees of the said ‘home care’ service business know about his quarrel with his wife, because he regularly quarreled with his wife while sitting in the office. He reportedly divorced his wife in Bangladesh due to his extravagance.
Although the source is 100% confirmed, attempts were made to contact both Kazi Mohammad Shafiullah and the owner and executive officer of the company to confirm the dismissal, but no one was found.
