104 detained in anti-teen gang drive in Noakhali
Noakhali Correspondent: Police have detained 104 individuals during an anti-juvenile gang operation in Noakhali. They were subsequently released into the custody of their families upon signing a written undertaking.
Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance), confirmed this information around noon on Sunday (October 11). The individuals were detained during raids conducted across various police stations in the district between 8:00 AM on Friday and 8:00 AM on Saturday.
District police stated that regular operations are being conducted under the directives of Superintendent of Police NM Nasiruddin to curb the illicit activities of juvenile gangs, prevent teenagers from becoming involved in crime, ensure public safety, and maintain social order. The breakdown of detainees by police station is as follows: Hatiya (40), Begumganj Model (31), Charjabbar (10), Companiganj (6), Chatkhil (6), Kabirhat (4), Sudharam Model (3), Senbagh (2), and Sonaimuri (2).
Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain further added that, alongside regular operations to curb juvenile gang-related crime, public awareness initiatives involving guardians, educational institutions, public representatives, and people from various walks of life will continue in order to ensure a healthy and safe environment for teenagers.
