Bangla Press Desk: At least 12 people, including three children, have been killed in overnight airstrikes carried out by a Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen. More than 33 others have been injured.
This information was confirmed on Saturday by media outlets controlled by the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen.
According to a report by the news outlet Middle East Eye, Saudi warplanes targeted a densely populated residential area in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate on Saturday morning, leaving 9 people dead and 16 injured. It has been reported that several others remain trapped beneath the rubble.
Earlier, a separate airstrike in Dhamar province resulted in the deaths of 3 children and left 17 people injured.
Houthi authorities allege that the Saudi-led coalition employed internationally banned "cluster bombs" in these attacks. According to the Houthis, at least 115 people have been killed and 305 injured in Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen between September 3 and October 15.
Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, Turki al-Maliki, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, claimed that their defense systems had intercepted and destroyed at least four explosive-laden drones launched by the Houthis.
He confirmed that one of these drones had been heading toward Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
