145 detained in anti-teen gang drive in Noakhali

Noakhali Correspondent: Police have detained 145 individuals during anti-juvenile gang drives across various police stations in Noakhali. Among them, one person was produced before the court for a summary trial, while the remaining 144 were released into the custody of their families upon signing a bond.
Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) of Noakhali District Police, confirmed this information on Monday (October 12) afternoon.
District police stated that, under the direction and supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) N.M. Nasiruddin, regular operations are being conducted across the district's police stations to curb the illicit activities of juvenile gangs, prevent teenagers from becoming involved in crime, ensure public safety, and maintain social order. As part of this ongoing effort, the drives were carried out between 8:00 AM on Sunday and 8:00 AM on Monday.
According to police data, the breakdown of detainees by police station is as follows: Begumganj Model (36), Sudharam Model (15), Companiganj (11), Senbagh (4), Charjabbar (8), Sonaimuri (4), Chatkhil (4), Hatiya (51), and Kabirhat (12). Of the 51 individuals detained at Hatiya Police Station, one was produced before the court for a summary trial, while the other 50 were released to their families upon signing a bond.
Additional SP Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain further added that, alongside regular operations to curb juvenile gang activities and criminal tendencies, the district police will continue public awareness campaigns—in collaboration with guardians, educational institutions, public representatives, and all segments of society—to ensure a healthy and safe environment for teenagers.
