2 killed in Cumilla road accident
Bangla Press Desk: At least two people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Chandina upazila of Cumilla Thursday night.
The incident took place in the Tirchar area around 10:30pm.
The deceased were Arman Hossain, 16, son of Abul Bashar of Char Fakira village under Companiganj upazila in Noakhali, and Saidul Haq Majumdar, 34, a resident of Uttar Anandapur village under Fulgazi upazila in Feni.
Police said a Feni-bound bus of Star Line Paribahan from Dhaka lost control, crashed into the median, and collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound microbus.
Following the crash, the bus overturned, killing two passengers on the spot, and injuring 15 others.
The injured were sent to different hospitals, including Chandina Upazila Health Complex, said Eliotganj highway police station Officer-in-Charge Ruhul Amin.
Sources at the health complex said three of the seven injured were shifted in critical condition to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
The accident caused long tailbacks on both sides of the highway, while police were working to restore normal traffic movement.
