Rajshahi Correspondent: The upazila administration conducted a drive on charges of selling fuel oil at a higher price in Alipur Bazar of Durgapur Upazila of Rajshahi. During this, 500 liters of petrol and fuel oil illegally stored from a shop were seized. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Laila Nur Tanju led the mobile court conducted on Saturday (April 4) morning.
The 500 liters of oil seized during the drive were immediately distributed among the general buyers present at the government-determined price. At that time, a case was filed against the shop owner Bachchu under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and a fine of Tk 30,000 was imposed.
Executive Magistrate Laila Nur Tanju said that the drive was conducted based on the news that some unscrupulous traders were creating an artificial crisis and selling oil at a higher price than the government-determined price.
She said that no concession will be given to those selling products at higher prices and disobeying government instructions. Such strict drives of the administration will continue in the public interest.
