Accused Teacher’s DNA Sample Taken in Netrakona Rape Case
Bangla Press Desk: The DNA sample of accused teacher Aman Ullah Sagar has been collected as part of the investigation into the shocking case involving the rape and impregnation of a 12-year-old madrasa student in Madan, Netrakona.
According to the investigation, Sub-Inspector Md. Aktaruzzaman, the investigating officer of the case, traveled to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office in Dhaka on May 16 and submitted the accused’s DNA sample for testing on May 17.
Mohammad Riyad Mahmud, Court Inspector of Netrakona Sadar, confirmed the matter on Thursday (May 21).
He said the court had ordered the DNA test following an application by the investigating officer. In compliance with that order, authorities transported the accused from Netrakona to Dhaka and submitted the sample for examination. The accused is currently in jail custody, while the court has scheduled the next hearing for June 28.
Speaking to reporters, SI Md. Aktaruzzaman said that the DNA sample was submitted at the CID office in accordance with the court's directive. He added that further legal action would be taken after receiving the DNA test report.
According to allegations, in November 2025, Aman Ullah Sagar — son of the late Shamsuddin Mia from Panchhar Borobari village under Kaitail Union and director and teacher of a women's Qawmi madrasa — allegedly raped the child and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.
Due to health complications, the victim stopped attending the madrasa. Recently, after noticing physical changes in her daughter, the girl's mother returned from Sylhet and questioned her, eventually learning about the alleged assault. She later took her daughter to gynecologist Dr. Sayma Akter at Swadesh Diagnostic Center on Madan Upazila Hospital Road, where it was confirmed that the girl was pregnant.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother filed a case with Madan Police Station on April 23 against Aman Ullah Sagar and his brother. Sagar's brother later secured bail from the court.
The case triggered nationwide outrage and condemnation, prompting the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to launch an investigation. Subsequently, an operational team from RAB-14 arrested Aman Ullah Sagar from Gauripur in Mymensingh around 4:00 am on May 6. He was produced before the court later that day, and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohsina Islam ordered his imprisonment. Police later took him into remand for questioning.
