Advisors intending to join politics must resign before JS polls schedule: Asif Mahmud
Bangla Press Desk:  A day after his announcement to quit his government post, Asif Mahmud Shajib Bhuiyan, an adviser to the interim administration, said that all advisers intending to join politics should resign from their respective posts before the 13th parliamentary election schedule is issued. “Not only student advisers, but also all advisers who are interested in joining politics ahead of the upcoming general election, should step down,” he said while talking to reporters at his office at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, Asif, currently serving as Sports and LGRD adviser, said that he will resign from his post before announcing the election schedule, which is likely to be held before Ramadan in February next year. “Everyone talks about me, Mahfuz bhai, or the student advisers just because we are more well-known, but there are many others within the government with prior political affiliations. Some may still have the political connections and in the future, they may engage in politics or even contest elections,” he said.
Besides, there may be many more individuals who have political identities and affiliations, he told a questioner, adding, “We all should resign if we want to join politics.” “I will resign and engage in politics, but it has not yet been fixed whether I will join the upcoming general election,” said the adviser. It has not yet been decided whether he will enter politics with the National Citizen Party .  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
