Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) have arrested BM Mozammel Haque, the Organising Secretary of the banned Awami League Central Executive Committee and former Member of Parliament for Shariatpur-1 constituency, from the capital’s Niketan area.
According to police sources, the arrest was made during a special operation conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) on Saturday night. Mozammel Haque was reportedly taken into custody and later transferred to the DB headquarters for interrogation.
Law enforcement officials said the former ruling party leader is facing investigation over his alleged involvement in recent political unrest and attempts to reorganise the activities of the proscribed party. Details of the charges or legal proceedings against him have not yet been disclosed.
BM Mozammel Haque, a long-time organiser within the Awami League, had served multiple terms in the party’s central leadership and was known for his influence in Shariatpur district politics.
