All airports on alert after series of violence across country
Bangla Press Desk: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has instructed all airports across the country to remain on alert in view of the recent incidents of violence, arson and sabotage across the country.
CAAB Assistant Director (Public Relations) Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
He said that a letter has been sent to all airports, directing them to take special precautionary measures.
The directive, issued from the CAAB headquarters, asked airport authorities to ensure 24-hour surveillance through CCTV cameras and to strengthen patrol and monitoring systems around the airport areas.
It also said that preparations have been taken to respond immediately to any unexpected situation.
The letter further directed the deployment of the highest possible number of security personnel and the strengthening of overall fire surveillance activities to ensure quick response in emergencies.
According to CAAB sources, security has already been tightened at all airports after the recent fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s cargo complex in Dhaka. The new directive aims to enhance precautionary measures further.
