All Transactions at Sonali Bank to Remain Suspended for Two Days
Bangla Press Desk: All transactions and banking services, including ATM card services, at state-owned Sonali Bank will remain suspended for two days to facilitate an upgrade of its Core Banking System (CBS). Bangladesh Bank has approved the downtime following an application and information submitted by the bank.
The central bank disclosed the information in a circular issued on Wednesday (October 14).
According to the circular, Sonali Bank has been authorised to suspend its services from midnight on October 15 until 11:59pm on October 17 to upgrade its core banking system.
During this period, all financial transactions will be temporarily suspended, including online banking, ATM services, digital banking and card services.
However, if no technical complications arise during the upgrade, the bank may resume normal branch transactions and banking operations on Saturday (October 17).
In a separate recent notice, Bangladesh Bank said all commercial banks had been instructed to maintain normal banking transactions next Saturday despite it being a weekly holiday, due to special circumstances.
Meanwhile, Exim Bank, also known as Standard Islami Bank, has received approval to suspend banking services and digital transactions for 84 hours for a similar core banking software upgrade.
All transactions and banking operations at the bank will remain suspended from midnight on October 20 until 11:59am on October 23.
