Allegations of death threats against Tanzin Tisha

Bangla Press Desk: Another case has been filed against actress Tanzin Tisha, following allegations that she threatened the complainant to withdraw a lawsuit related to a 75,000-taka saree incident. The court has ordered her to appear and show cause as to why further legal action should not be taken.
The case was filed on Monday afternoon (October 26) in the court of Dhaka Executive Magistrate Mu. Mahbub-ul-Alam by fashion designer and *Velmet-Youth* magazine editor, Sanaya Anam Wafikah Chowdhury. After recording the complainant's statement, the court directed Tanzin Tisha to appear on November 23 to show cause.
According to the complaint, on November 27, 2025, Sanaya Anam Wafikah Chowdhury had filed a case against Tanzin Tisha in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka, accusing her of fraud and misappropriation of funds. The complainant alleges that following the filing of that case—under sections 420 and 406 of the Penal Code—Tanzin Tisha repeatedly threatened her, demanding the withdrawal of the case and warning her of potential harm. The complaint further states that on November 7, 2025, Tanzin Tisha allegedly threatened the complainant over the phone, saying, "If I go after you, you won't survive." It is also alleged that Tisha mentioned involving the Detective Branch (DB) police in the matter.
The complainant claims that when the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) was tasked with investigating the initial case, the investigating officer submitted a biased report. Subsequently, on October 25, 2026, the complainant filed an objection (*naraji* petition) against that report.

The court granted the petition and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police to conduct a further investigation into the case.
The complaint further notes that Tanzin Tisha became enraged after the investigation report was published in various media outlets. Following this, the complainant allegedly received threats from unidentified individuals demanding the withdrawal of the case. The complainant further claims that she was warned she would not be allowed to remain in Bangladesh if she did not drop the charges. The complaint states that, feeling insecure due to this incident, the individual went to the nearest police station to file a case, but was advised to seek recourse through the court instead.
