BanglaPress Desk: The government is set to release the holiday calendar for 2027. A notification regarding this is expected to be issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday (November 4).
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, the upcoming year—much like the current one—will include 5 days of holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, 6 days for Eid-ul-Adha, and 2 days for the Durga Puja festival.
An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that, as in the current year, the actual days of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha will be designated as general holidays. Additionally, there will be four days of holidays granted via executive order for Eid-ul-Fitr—two days before and two days after the festival. For Eid-ul-Adha, there will be five days of holidays granted via executive order—two days before and three days after the festival.
The official further noted that Bijoya Dashami, the final day of Durga Puja, will be a general holiday, while Maha Navami will be a holiday granted via executive order.
In total, there will be 29 days of holidays next year, combining both general holidays and those granted by executive order. Of these, seven days fall on the weekend—Fridays and Saturdays.
The holiday calendar for 2026 was approved during a cabinet meeting held on November 2. For that year, there are 15 general holidays and 14 holidays granted via executive order. However, four of the general holidays and three of the executive-order holidays coincide with the weekend.
