Army to remain steadfast to protect country’s sovereignty

Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh Army has reaffirmed that it would remain rigid and steadfast in its commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty. It will also take stricter action against any activities that may lead to loss of life or property, mob violence or public suffering. Col Md Shafiqul Islam, colonel staff of the Military Operations Directorate of the Army Headquarters, was addressing a press conference held at the Officers’ Mess in Dhaka Cantonment on Monday. “The corridor is a sensitive issue, and the Bangladesh Army will neither engage in any activity that compromises national security nor make any concessions in safeguarding the border,” he said during the press conference.

The army is relentlessly working to protect the sovereignty, national security and lives and properties of the people amid the country’s evolving situation, he said. The army personnel have been deployed at all 62 districts across the country, including the remote char areas, in a bid to uphold the law and order in light of the directives of the chief of the army staff, he said. The army official said there is no setback between the army and the government, rather, the Bangladesh Army is uncompromised in terms of the national interest.
