Around 10,000 BGB personnel deployed across the country for Durga Puja.
Bangla Press Desk: Approximately 10,000 BGB members will be deployed across the country to ensure security during the autumn Durga Puja, the major religious festival of the Hindu community. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mahbub Murshed Rahman, Director (Operations) of BGB Headquarters, disclosed this information.
He stated that, according to the plan, about 10,000 BGB members will be deployed nationwide from October 16 to October 22.
Noting that the BGB has adopted an integrated security plan to ensure Durga Puja is celebrated in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mahbub Murshed Rahman said, "The core components include regular patrols, intelligence surveillance, and close coordination with the local administration, police, and Puja celebration committees. Special emphasis is being placed on identifying potential risks in advance, keeping a vigilant eye on rumors and communal incitement, and responding swiftly to any untoward incidents."
He mentioned that the BGB would provide security support at a total of 2,727 Puja mandaps, including those located within eight kilometers of the border and near battalion headquarters.
Measures have also been taken to set up the necessary number of temporary camps to facilitate rapid patrols and provide assistance in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
He stated that the scope of BGB deployment and responsibilities in Dhaka would be determined based on government directives and the requirements of the concerned authorities. The BGB will remain prepared to conduct patrols, provide security support at key locations, and respond quickly to emergencies in coordination with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and local administration as needed.
He further added that Durga Puja is a shining example of our long-standing tradition of communal harmony and mutual respect.
The BGB will remain fully prepared to ensure that our Sanatan (Hindu) brothers and sisters can celebrate their religious festival safely, smoothly, and joyfully.
