Arrest warrants issued against two in attempted murder of Hero Alom
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of bail and issued arrest warrants against Kamrul Islam Riaz, alias Max Ovi, and Sadia Rahman Mithila, in the case filed over the attempted murder of content creator Ashraful Hossain Alom, widely known as Hero Alom.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the plaintiff.
Confirming the development, the plaintiff’s lawyer Shanta Saksina said, “The accused threatened the plaintiff to withdraw the case while on bail. We appealed for the cancellation of their bail and the issuance of arrest warrants, as they violated the conditions of their bail.”
According to the case statement, six unidentified individuals — acting on the orders of four named accused — blocked Hero Alom's path with three motorcycles on 29 September while he was walking along the main road in Aftabnagar under Badda Police Station.
They allegedly took him to a nearby bushy area, where Max Ovi struck him on the head with a wooden stick. He suffered serious injuries when he tried to shield himself with his left hand. The unidentified attackers also allegedly hit various parts of his body, including his elbow and head.
The attackers smashed Hero Alom's mobile phone, issued threats and intimidation, and then fled. Locals later rescued him and took him to hospital. Hero Alom filed the case with Badda Police Station on 5 October following the incident.
