Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain Faces ACC Scrutiny
Bangla Press Desk: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption against former adviser of the interim government and National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan and three others.
The commission has also formed a four-member committee to conduct the inquiry into the allegations, an ACC senior official confirmed to Daily Sun on Wednesday (2 September).ACC Deputy Director Md Zahid Kalam is leading the committee, tasked with investigating the corruption allegations.
Asif Mahmud and the three others are accused of involvement in various irregularities and corrupt practices, including alleged manipulation of recruitment and transfer processes at the Ministry of Youth and Sports and irregularities linked to procurement syndicates.
The ACC has also received allegations that Asif Mahmud accepted bribes in exchange for securing unlawful benefits and was involved in money laundering.
According to ACC sources, he is also accused of directly interfering in the formation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) while serving as the former sports adviser.
Further allegations suggest that Asif Mahmud received various unlawful benefits through his former Assistant Personal Secretary (APS), Moazzem Hossain.
