Bangla Press Desk: BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has described the Awami League—currently barred from political activities—as a “virus to democracy.”
Addressing a public gathering in Badarkhali, Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday (5 December), he said the “virus” is now gone, and that a healthy political environment has been restored in Bangladesh.
After 16–17 years of struggle, he claimed the country has regained a democratic atmosphere free from fascism.
Salahuddin added that the BNP plans to complete the Matarbari deep seaport project in Maheshkhali within one to one and a half years if the party comes to power in the next election.
