Bangla Press Desk: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has pledged that there will be no more secret detention centres, colloquially known as “Aynaghor”, in Bangladesh.
"Today, standing before you as the president of Bangladesh, I want to say in the clearest possible terms: there will be no more Aynaghor in this independent Bangladesh,” he said on Sunday.
The head of state was speaking at an event organised by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
“No mother will have to shed tears for her child, and no wife for her husband, ever again,” he said.
