Bangladesh and Qatar to Set Up Joint Energy, Finance Working Groups

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh and Qatar on Tuesday agreed to establish joint working groups to deepen bilateral cooperation in the energy and financial sectors following high-level talks in Doha.

The decision came during Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman’s separate meetings with Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi and Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, according to a press release.

It said in both meetings the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest, with particular focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy and financial sectors.

They agreed to establish joint working groups to follow up the issues and advance mutually beneficial cooperation in the two key areas.

Prime Minister’s Adviser for Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir and senior officials were present at the meetings.

The foreign minister invited both Qatari ministers to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.

Rahman is currently on a two-day official visit to Doha, leading a high-level Bangladesh delegation.
