Bangladesh will reach the final if they can restrict Afghanistan to 119 runs.

BanglaPress Desk: Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the final of the tri-nation series now hinge on a difficult equation. Following a batting collapse, the team—led by Towhid Hridoy—was bundled out for just 160 runs against Afghanistan. To qualify for the final, Shanto and his side must now produce an extraordinary performance with the ball; they need to bowl Afghanistan out for 119 runs or fewer to surpass Zimbabwe and secure a spot in the final.
After winning the toss and electing to bat in Sharjah, Bangladesh failed to put up a substantial total. The team found itself in deep trouble early on, losing four wickets for just 28 runs. Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan attempted a recovery with a 93-run partnership for the fifth wicket. While Saif departed after scoring 41, Emon contributed 70 runs off 96 balls. However, the innings crumbled toward the end as the batters fell quickly to the spin of Rashid Khan, with Bangladesh eventually bowled out for 160. Rashid claimed four wickets.
If Afghanistan scores 120 runs or more, they will advance to the final alongside Zimbabwe. Conversely, if Bangladesh manages to bowl Afghanistan out for 119 runs or less, they will secure their place in the final, where they would face Afghanistan.
In short, it is not enough for Bangladesh to simply restrict Afghanistan to a low score; they must take all ten wickets for 119 runs or fewer. Following the disappointing batting display, all eyes are now on the Bangladeshi bowlers.
