Bangladeshi Man Succumbs to Injuries After BSF Shooting

Bangla Press Desk:   A Bangladeshi man who was injured in a shooting by India’s Border Security Force across the border from Thakurgaon’s Pirganj has died while receiving treatment at a hospital in India.

The information was reported by Indian media, according to Lt Col Abdullah Al Moin, commander of the Dinajpur-42 Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh.

The deceased has been identified as Asadul Haque, 38, a resident of Idrail village in Pirganj Upazila.

In a media statement issued on Saturday night, Dinajpur-42 BGB said Asadul was a known drug smuggler and was also involved in human trafficking.

The BGB said several cases had been filed against him with Pirganj Police.

According to the information provided by the BGB, Asadul was shot by the BSF across the border in Pirganj and was subsequently receiving treatment at a hospital in India, where he died.

Lt Col Abdullah said news about his death came from reports published by Indian media.

The BGB statement described Asadul as a known drug smuggler and said he was also involved in illegal human trafficking.

It added that he faced multiple cases at Pirganj Police Station.
