Bangladesh’s Dengue Hospitalisations Cross 2,250
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh has logged 342 new dengue hospitalisations in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of admitted patients to 2,268.No deaths have been reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin issued on Friday.The DGHS said 88 people have died of dengue so far this year, including 34 in August alone.
Dhaka North City Corporation hospitals admitted 72 patients, while 43 were admitted under Dhaka South.By division, Barishal recorded 63 admissions, Chattogram 93, Mymensingh 48 and Rangpur 23.
Meanwhile, 345 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour window.
The DGHS said 32,590 people have been hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease since Jan 1 this year, of whom 30,422 have recovered.The health directorate has tracked dengue cases since 2000.
The worst year on record was 2023, when 321,179 people were hospitalised and 1,705 died, the highest annual toll to date. Last year, dengue killed more than 400 people, with around 102,000 cases recorded.
