Bangla Press Desk: Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP) and member of parliament for Rangpur-4 constituency, said that the people of the country expressed their position in favor of democracy and reform through the referendum. But even though so many people took a stand in favor of the referendum, BNP does not want to accept the verdict of that referendum. BNP understands the vote but does not understand the referendum. The people of the country voted for the government and also voted for reform. If the government's vote is valid, then the question has arisen among the people of Bangladesh why the vote for reform would be illegal.
He said these things at a road meeting organized by the NCP in Phulbari, Dinajpur on Saturday to demand the implementation of the referendum, resolving the power crisis, controlling commodity prices, increasing employment, and securing the border.
Akhtar Hossain said that a conspiracy has been hatched to make this state and the administration one-party. Local government elections are being delayed, whereas during the interim government, they said that local government elections would be held after the formation of the government.
Citing various issues including push-ins and tension at the border, the NCP member secretary said, if there is an attempt to make the border unsafe, the people of the country along with the Border Guard Force of Bangladesh are ready to confront Indian aggression.
The road meeting organized in the area adjacent to the Jora Bridge in the Phulbari municipal area was presided over by the acting member secretary of the Dinajpur district committee of the NCP, Imran Nishat Chowdhury. Northern region chief organizer Sarjis Al, NCP chief organizer Nasiruddin Patwari, member secretary of the National Health Alliance, an affiliate of the NCP, Dr. Abdul Ahad, among others, spoke.
