BNP candidate Munshi’s nomination cancelled in Hasnat’s constituency
Bangla Press Desk: The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled the nomination of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate Manjurul Ahsan Munshi for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election in the Comilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency.
The decision was announced on Saturday at around 4:00pm following a hearing held at the basement-2 auditorium of the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
In the same constituency, National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Hasnat Abdullah is contesting the election under the banner of the 10-party electoral alliance.
According to EC sources, counter appeals were filed with the EC challenging the validity of the nominations of both BNP candidate Munshi and NCP candidate Hasnat.
After Saturday’s hearing, the EC declared Munshi’s nomination invalid, while upholding the validity of Hasnat Abdullah’s nomination.
