BNP demands removal of controversial advisers
Bangla Press Desk: Amid the country’s evolving political situation, BNP has urged the government to remove controversial advisers from their roles to uphold the image and integrity of the interim administration. Khandaker Mosharraf, standing committee member of the party, made the call while addressing a press conference after a top-level meeting held at the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka this afternoon. “We are making it very clear frequently that some recent actions of the government have raised doubts and confusion in the people’s minds about its impartiality,” he said. Some advisers of the interim government are directly involved in political parties being formed against the backdrop of the July mass upsurge and it will be better for the government to discharge them from their responsibilities, he said.
Earlier in the day, addressing a programme, Ishraque demanded the resignation of Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam from all government responsibilities. In response to the call, National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah said that Ishraque’s demand is blatantly derogatory. “If necessary, we will stand shoulder to shoulder with the army to prevent any attempt to recreate another 1/11 in the country,” he said.
