BNP has experience in governing the country: Tarique Rahman

Bangla Press Desk:  BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that among the existing political parties active in the field, it is the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) that possesses the necessary experience to govern the country.

In a recent interview with BBC Bangla, Tarique Rahman stated, “At this moment, the political parties that are active on the ground—Insha’Allah, we can assume that these parties are capable of running the country in the future. Among them, BNP already has experience in governance.”

When asked how the BNP would gain public confidence in its pledges and assurances following the political shift of 5 August last year, he replied, “Naturally, as a political party, we have a plan. As I mentioned in response to various questions, BNP has the experience required to lead. Others may promise, but experience matters most.”

Using an analogy, Tarique Rahman said, “Suppose you are flying to London, and the pilot tells you, ‘Brother, I don’t yet have a licence, but I think I can fly you there.’ Would you get on that plane? Certainly not. You would prefer an experienced pilot. Even an experienced driver may encounter bumps or sudden brakes, but they can still take you safely to your destination because they have the experience.”

He added, “Similarly, we have governed before. Yes, there may have been mistakes, but we have learnt from them. People learn from the past—and so have we. We now understand what went wrong and what should not be repeated.”

Tarique Rahman further said the BNP has both the experience and commitment to deliver on its promises. “We have learnt from experience, and guided by that, we will be able to assess what is right and what is wrong. Most importantly, we have the commitment to deliver—and we are determined to do so,” he said.
