BNP Health Secretary Visits Patients at Ad-din Hospital

Bangla Press Desk:   BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam has visited Ad-din Medical College Hospital in the capital following the deaths of six newborn babies.

During the visit, Dr Rafiqul met the hospital’s Director General, director, assistant director and physicians responsible for neonatal intensive care to learn about the details of the incident.

He expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased infants and urged the hospital authorities to waive all treatment costs and hospital bills for the affected families.

He also requested that arrangements be made to transport the bodies of the newborns to their respective homes.

Speaking to journalists after the visit, Dr Rafiqul described the incident as deeply distressing.

“The mothers were preparing to return home with their newborn children in a moment of joy. This tragic incident has turned that happiness into profound sorrow. It is an extremely heartbreaking event,” he said.

He stressed that any negligence or dereliction of duty found to have led to the deaths must be dealt with firmly.

“If evidence of negligence or misconduct is found, exemplary punishment should be ensured for those responsible,” he said.Dr Rafiqul also called on hospital authorities to determine whether any other newborns were suffering from similar complications and to ensure that they receive prompt and appropriate treatment.

Immediately after learning of the deaths, Dr Rafiqul urged the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and other relevant senior officials to take swift and effective measures in response to the incident.

Authorities are continuing efforts to determine the cause of the deaths, which have sparked concern and grief across the country.
