BNP to observe seven-day mourning, janaza announcement later
Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will observe a seven-day period of mourning following the death of its Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The party announced that details regarding her janaza (funeral prayers) and burial will be announced later.
In a message, the press wing of the BNP Chairperson confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
As part of the mourning programme, BNP leaders and activists are expected to hold prayers and other commemorative activities across the country in her memory.
Thrice-former prime minister and icon of democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia, passed away Tuesday morning while under treatment at the capital’s Evercare Hospital. She was 80.
The chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) breathed her last at 6am on Tuesday.
