‘BNP vows to build new Bangladesh under Tarique Rahman’s leadership’
Bangla Press Desk:  BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince has said the party will build a “new Bangladesh” under the leadership of Tarique Rahman with a pledge for change. “Tarique Rahman dreams of change — his vision is for the nation. He is a visionary leader whose mission is to ensure the welfare of the country and people, and to build an inclusive and positive state,” he said. He made the remarks on Wednesday noon at a rally organised by Dhobaura upazila BNP on the occasion of the party’s 47th founding anniversary at the livestock hospital ground in Mymensingh’s Dhobaura. Prince said BNP leaders and activists must remain prepared and work to ensure a landslide victory for the paddy sheaf symbol in the next election to realise Tarique Rahman’s vision and mission.
“Tarique Rahman and BNP want to bring change in politics and the state. For that, those of us in BNP must change our mindset,” he added. He accused the Awami League of tainting politics and turning it into a platform for unethical money-making, saying, “Tarique Rahman and BNP will turn politics into a platform for social welfare.” The BNP leader further claimed that electoral campaigns have already started in villages, where grassroots people are engaging in lively tea-stall discussions in the afternoons and evenings. “People want elections soon. If anyone stands against the people’s demand, the people will stand against them,” he warned, alleging that some political parties are creating obstacles to the polls with various excuses. Following the rally, a colourful procession was brought out to mark the anniversary. It paraded different areas of Dhobaura upazila town before ending at the bus stand.
Carrying colourful flags and banners featuring portraits of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman and the paddy sheaf symbol, thousands of BNP leaders, activists and locals joined the march. The rally was presided over by Dhobaura upazila BNP convener Prof Azharul Islam Kajol and conducted by member secretary Anisur Rahman Monik. Among others, senior joint convener Moazzem Hossain Liton, Forhad Robbani Sumon, Abdul Quddus, Habibur Rahman, Mahbubul Alam Babul, Zakirul Islam Toton, Humayun Kabir, Abdul Momen Shahin, Noyon Mandal, Abul Kashem Dollar, Forhad Al Razi, Aminul Islam, Masud Chowdhury, Shamim Mia, Kamrul Hasan Sumon, Faruk Hossain, Jalal Uddin, Saiful Islam Palash, Mamun and Rakibul Islam Hridoy also spoke at the event.
