Building partially collapses in Armanitola after earthquake
Bangla Press Desk: A portion of a building collapsed in the capital’s Armanitola following a moderate earthquake.
Two firefighting units are working at the spot.
The incident occurred Friday morning (21 November).
Earlier, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
According to an “Earthquake Occurrence Message” issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the tremor struck at 10:38:26am BST on 21 November 2025.
BMD stated that the quake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and has been classified as moderate. The epicentre was located in Madhabdi, Dhaka, at latitude 23.77°N and longitude 90.51°E.
The epicentre lay approximately 13 kilometres east of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka. The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 10 kilometres, the agency said.
Strong shaking was felt across Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and several neighbouring districts. Many residents rushed out of buildings in alarm as the tremor struck.
