Buses to launch e-ticketing system in capital on Tuesday: DMP
Bangla Press Desk: Passengers buses will start operating under an electronic-ticketing system in the capital from Tuesday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced in a press release on Saturday night.
The buses will take up and drop passengers at designated stoppages and will run on a “single lane,” said the press release signed by Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Sanowar Hossain, an officer at DMP’s Mirpur Traffic Division.
No passenger can be taken on board without the designated e-ticket, it added.
The new traffic guideline is focused on the Dhaka Metropolitan Area but particularly applies to the areas under Mirpur Traffic Division, the press release noted.
DMP called on all the bus owners and workers to launch awareness campaigns from Sunday to alert travelers and transport staffers about the traffic guidelines.
It also urged the concerned traffic police personnel to ensure that the transport workers and travelers are alerted.
The guidelines are aimed at bringing order on roads, reducing traffic congestion, improving passengers’ experience, and ensuring the well-being of public transport owners and workers, the press release noted.
Violation of the guidelines will lead to punishment and fines for the concerned bus driver and bus company, DMP warned in the press release.
