Case filed over killing of Primeasia University student
  Bangla Press Desk: A case was filed early Sunday in connection with the killing of Zahidul Islam Parvez, a student of Primeasia University, in the capital. Zahidul’s brother Humayun Kabir filed the case accusing eight students of the university including Mahathi, Meherab, and Abuzar of Law and English departments, said Banani police station Inspector (Operations) AKM Moin Uddin. Zahidul Islam Parvez, 23, a student of the 223rd batch of Textile Engineering Department of the university, was stabbed to death following a dispute with some students of English Department on the university campus on Saturday. Besides, 20-25 unnamed persons were also accused in the case, he added.
“We are investigating the killing and trying to arrest those involved,” said Inspector Moinuddin. Campus sources said the altercation began around 4pm on Saturday when Zahidul went to a nearby alley for having snacks where three female students brought allegation of eve-teasing against him. The girls reportedly called their friends prompting university authorities to mediate between the two sides and resolve the issue. Later in the day, Mahathi, Meherab, and Abuzar allegedly brought a group of youths from the Hazaripara area and attacked Zahidul, leaving him injured.
Zahidul was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital by his fellows where doctors declared him dead. Students from the Textile Engineering Department alleged that Zahidul was attacked with the help of outsiders and he was stabbed in the chest.
