Celebrate the festival with peace of mind and in safety: Prime Minister

Bangla Press Desk: On the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja—one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community—Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended his greetings to Hindus and followers of the Sanatan Dharma in Bangladesh and across the globe. He stated, "May you celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm, in complete safety and security, throughout the country."
He conveyed this message on Friday evening via his verified Facebook page.
In his post, the Prime Minister noted that, according to Hindu tradition, Goddess Durga descends from the heavens to the earthly realm to seek the well-being of the world; she bestows blessings upon her devotees, destroys malevolent forces, and nurtures creation. The destruction of evil, coupled with the pursuit of truth and beauty, lends a unique significance to the Sharadiya Durga festival.
People of various faiths, groups, and communities across the nation observe their respective religions with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The practice of observing religious festivals is a hallmark of the enduring religious and social values, as well as the cultural beauty, of Bangladesh. Through such religious, cultural, and social activities, the bonds of friendship, harmony, goodwill, and brotherhood among the diverse groups and communities of Bangladesh are fostered and expressed.
Emphasizing that equality, human dignity, and social justice are core tenets of all religions, the Prime Minister remarked that the welfare of humanity is a fundamental teaching shared by every faith. Therefore, while practicing one's own religious traditions and culture, it is essential for everyone to maintain mutual respect, honor, and empathy toward one another to ensure a peaceful society.
He added that, following the ousting of the fascist regime—achieved at the cost of thousands of lives—Bangladesh has embarked once again on the path toward democracy. A monumental undertaking to rebuild the nation has now begun.
"It is our firm commitment to establish a welfare-oriented, safe, and humane Bangladesh for all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation, religion, or background."
In his message for Durga Puja, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed his hope that our multifaceted society and way of life may be enriched by a spirit of harmony and goodwill. Religion is a personal matter—the state belongs to everyone. Religion is a personal matter—the right to security belongs to everyone.
