Chhatra Dal panel takes oath on 8-point, promises safe campus
  Bangla Press Desk:   Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi  Chhatra Dal (JCD) nominated Abid-Hamim-Mayed Parishad has pledged to build a safe and student-friendly Dhaka University through an eight-point program. The panel took an oath on Sunday at the historic Battala of Dhaka University ahead of the upcoming DUCSU and Hall Union elections. The program began at 1:00 pm with the performance of the national anthem. Panel vice-president candidate Abidul Islam Khan administered the oath. Chhatra Dal Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, along with leaders and activists of the organisation were present.
During the ceremony, the panel made eight specific pledges to the student community. First, they vowed that the past political culture of mass room practices, guest room torture, forced participation in political programs, and suppression of dissent would not return to the campus. Second, drawing from the experience of standing at gunpoint during the July 2024 movement, and inspired by the student community’s role in the anti-dictatorship movement of the 1990s, the Liberation War, the Language Movement, and the partition, they pledged to resist any threat to democracy, freedom, or the liberation of the people. Third, they promised to ensure a women-friendly and secure campus, with special emphasis on safe housing, healthcare, and empowerment of female students.
Fourth, they committed to pressing the university administration to provide legal seats in dormitories, affordable nutritious food, quality healthcare, better cleanliness and waste management, and improved transportation facilities. Fifth, the panel vowed to combat cyberbullying, misinformation, and online harassment to protect students in the digital space. Sixth, they promised to promote education, research, sports, culture, and career development. Seventh, they pledged to uphold etiquette, mutual respect, and democratic behavior in dealing with political opponents as elected representatives of DUCSU.
Finally, they promised transparency, accountability, and sincere implementation of their commitments to gain the trust of students. Following the oath-taking, the Chhatra Dal panel urged students to support their candidacy under the slogan “Not promises, but commitment to change.” They expressed determination to build an equal, humane, and student-friendly Dhaka University.
