Chief justice expresses deep concern over killing of Rajshahi judge’s son
Bangla Press Desk: Chief Justice of Bangladesh Syed Refaat Ahmed has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic incident in which the son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman was killed and the judge’s wife injured in an attack at their residence in Rajshahi earlier Thursday.
In an official statement, the chief justice condemned the brutal assault on a member of the judiciary’s family, describing it as “reprehensible, inhumane, and deeply distressing,” said a press release.
On behalf of the Supreme Court and the entire judiciary, Refaat conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Under the chief justice’s directive, the Supreme Court is closely monitoring the progress of the investigation into the incident.
The statement emphasised the expectation of a prompt, fair, and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice through due judicial process.
The chief justice also stressed the importance of maintaining integrity and transparency at every stage of the investigation, urging law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties with the highest level of professionalism, transparency, and urgency.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice in this case, stating that it will continue to closely observe the developments in the coming days to guarantee that justice is served swiftly and effectively.
In this time of mourning, the Supreme Court expressed solidarity with the grieving family, assuring them of full support and sympathy.
