Chief Justice seeks information from judges, not explanation
Bangla Press Desk:The Supreme Court has clarified that Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed did not seek any explanation from three High Court Division judges over the granting of a large number of bail orders.
In a press release issued on Tuesday (28 October) by Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md Shafiqul Islam, the court said the Chief Justice had only requested case-related information from the judges as part of routine administrative procedures, which are standard internal processes of court management.
The release urged media outlets to verify facts responsibly before publishing court-related news to protect the judiciary’s image and prevent public confusion.
The clarification comes after reports yesterday claimed that Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed had summoned Justices Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman, Mostofa Zaman Islam, and Zakir Hossain for explanations regarding the high number of bail orders.
The reports also stated that Supreme Court High Court Division Special Officer Md Moazzem Hossain had informed the judges via WhatsApp and phone calls.
The Supreme Court emphasized that no show-cause notice or summons had been issued. The case-related queries were purely administrative in nature.
The court also noted that the media coverage distorted facts, misrepresented the matter, and created unnecessary public confusion, adding that the communication was entirely confidential.
