China extend medical facilities for Bangladeshi patients through its 'Belt and Road Healthcare Center'

Bangla Press Desk:   A delegation of eight specialist doctors from two renowned Chinese hospitals - Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital and Shenzhen Hengsheng Hospital - recently visited Bangladesh as part of an initiative by the Belt and Road Healthcare Center to extend medical cooperation between the two countries.

During their three-day (Friday to Sunday ) visit, the Chinese specialists conducted medical consultation programmes in Dhaka, held discussions with Bangladeshi doctors, reviewed patient cases, and provided professional medical suggestions.

Speaking during the medical exchange programme, the CEO of Belt and Road Healthcare Center Maruf Mollah, said that over the last three days, eight specialist doctors from China were brought to Bangladesh from two reputed hospitals.

The delegation also visited several hospitals in Chattogram and other parts of the country as part of their activities.

He said the initiative aims to achieve three major objectives, firstly, to enhance Bangladesh’s healthcare system through collaboration with China’s advanced medical facilities.

Secondly, to guide Bangladeshi patients on how they can easily access advanced treatment in China through a transparent and patient-friendly process.

Thirdly, to enable patients who are unable to travel abroad to receive expert consultation from Chinese doctors while staying in Bangladesh.

Dr. Deng Weifen, reproductive health disease specialist with IVF/ICSI, a fertility specialist from Shenzhen Hengsheng Hospital, showed several advanced technologies used at their fertility center. These include ovum puncture using hydro-echotherapy, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, treatment of abnormal endometrium, recurrent implantation failure, and recurrent miscarriage.

She said that clinical success rates for patients under 37 years old range between 60%  and 70%.

Regarding medical visas, organisers stated that the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh is providing strong cooperation.

The Belt and Road Healthcare Center assists patients with hospital invitation letters, documentation, and visa processing, making the overall procedure simple and efficient.

Concerns regarding food, language, and religious practices were also addressed. Cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen offer halal food, professional translators, and prayer facilities, ensuring comfort for Bangladeshi Muslim patients.

Organisers expressed optimism that the long-standing friendship between Bangladesh and China will further strengthen medical tourism and healthcare collaboration, with more Chinese doctors expected to visit Bangladesh in the future to provide direct medical services.
