Bangla Press Desk: The Chinese government provided $3.3 million in cash to Myanmar’s new regime on Tuesday (5 August) for small and midsize projects.
China made the money available from the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund, a pot of money the country spends across the region for developmental ambitions, the Irrawaddy reports.
Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia and Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Than Swe signed a total of 14 projects that will be implemented by nine ministries in Myanmar with money from the fund during a meeting in Naypyitaw, covering the fields of agricultural technology, science and technology, cultural exchange, legal cooperation, environmental cooperation, disaster management, and commercial navigation, according to Myanmar’s official media.
The fund is ostensibly committed to “delivering tangible benefits for the people of the six member countries”, the report said. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
