Bangla Press Desk: A case has been filed against content creator Ripon Mia known as "Repon Video" after the father of a 13-year-old schoolgirl accused him of raping his daughter in Netrokona.
The victim's father lodged the case with Netrokona Sadar Police Station on Tuesday night, accusing Ripon of rape, police said.
The victim studies in Class VI at a local school.
Ripon, 30, is the son of Manzil Mia of Nandura village in Dakshin Bishiura Union under Netrokona Sadar upazila. He is widely known on social media as "Ripon Video."
According to local sources, residents allegedly found Ripon with the girl behind her house on Saturday night. The incident later triggered a local arbitration.
Residents claimed the arbitration panel fined Ripon Tk500,000 and ordered him to leave the village. They said the panel gave him one week to pay the fine and leave the area.
A video of the arbitration circulated on social media shortly after midnight on Monday, drawing widespread attention.
Police said they visited the area and launched a preliminary inquiry after the video came to their notice. The victim's father later filed the case.
A visit to Ripon's house on Tuesday afternoon found him absent. Local residents said he has remained away from the area since the incident.
Ripon's wife, Champa Akter, said she did not know the details of the incident and had only heard about it from others. She said her husband claimed he was innocent and alleged that others had falsely implicated him. She added that the victim had previously visited their family.
The victim's mother said she was not at home when the alleged incident occurred and learned about it later from local residents. She said her daughter subsequently told her about the allegation.
Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Khayer said police had registered the case and launched a drive to arrest the accused.
