Country’s first Eurovision Asia participant to emerge from ‘Voice of Bangladesh’

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh is set to make history as it prepares to participate in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, marking the first time the globally renowned music competition has expanded beyond Europe in its 70-year history.

To select the country’s first representative, leading entertainment platform Bongo has launched “Voice of Bangladesh–Song for Eurovision Song Contest Asia”, a nationwide talent competition that will culminate in the National Final on 30 September 2026. The winner will represent Bangladesh at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia Grand Final.

For seven decades, Eurovision has united countries through original music, becoming one of the world’s most celebrated live entertainment events. With its expansion into Asia, artistes from across the region will compete on the same international stage, offering Bangladesh a unique opportunity to showcase its music, culture and creativity to millions of viewers worldwide.

Streaming exclusively on Bongo, with NTV serving as the official television partner, “Voice of Bangladesh” is open to solo artistes, duos and bands from all musical genres. The competition will be hosted by Tahsan Khan, while renowned musicians Fahmida Nabi, Bappa Mazumder, Ankhi Alamgir, Hamin Ahmed and Shouquat Ali Imon will serve as judges. The winner will be chosen through a combination of judges’ scores and audience votes before representing Bangladesh in Bangkok.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday.

“For 70 years, Eurovision has united countries through music. Its arrival in Asia gives Bangladesh an extraordinary opportunity to present its talent and culture to a new international audience,” said Mohammad Ali Haider, Head of Content at Bongo.

“Bongo is proud to create the platform that will discover Bangladesh’s first Eurovision representative. We encourage artistes from across the country to step forward and help write a new chapter for Bangladeshi music,” he added.

Applications are now open for solo artistes, duos and bands. Interested performers can submit a high-quality audio or video performance along with a short biography at apply.bongobd.com.
