Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court has dismissed a case filed by a young woman against her parents under the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, following a settlement between the parties. Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order on Thursday after a hearing.
Confirming the matter, the complainant’s lawyer Somaiyad Shahriar Fida said the court dismissed the case and directed that the matter be resolved amicably within the family. “The complainant—the daughter—agreed to the settlement. Her parents have shown considerable compassion. We are hopeful for a peaceful resolution,” the lawyer added.
Earlier, on 22 June, Mehrein Ahmed, 19, had filed the case against her father Nasir Ahmed and mother Jannatul Ferdous before the same court. That day, the court recorded her statement and issued summonses for both parents to appear in court. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
