Court orders freezing of 20 bank accounts of Flight Expert
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered the freezing of 20 bank accounts belonging to the online ticket booking company Flight Expert over allegations of embezzling money collected from online air ticket sales and bookings.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order following a petition filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). According to the investigation officer, Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahid Raihan of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the accounts currently hold a total balance of approximately Tk4.10 crore.
The petition said, Febd Ltd (Flight Expert) used these bank accounts to receive advance payments from individuals and various institutions through online air ticket sales and bookings. However, the company allegedly embezzled the money through fraudulent means without providing tickets to customers.
On 2 August last year, the company's Chairman Salman Bin Rashid Shah Sayem shut down the office and fled to Canada.
Review of the accounts shows that various customers and sub-agencies deposited different amounts of money at different times.Source: daily Sun
