Court Restricts Four From Travelling Abroad Over Graft Claims

Bangla Press Desk:   A Dhaka court on Wednesday imposed a travel ban on four people, including former Principal Officer of Dhaka Bank Ayesha Sadaf Hossain and former Manager Mehedi Zaman Khan, over graft allegations.

The other two people, who have been barred from leaving the country, are Liton Chowdhury and Jamil Sharif, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body, in its plea, said an investigating officer has been appointed to probe the case filed against accused Liton Chowdhury, Jamil Sharif, Ayesha Sadaf Hossain and Mehedi Zaman Khan on allegations of
obtaining loans through forgery and fraud by creating fake documents, in collusion with one another, and embezzling Taka 85 lakh after transferring, converting or otherwise diverting the loan money.

It said that information from a reliable source suggested that the accused were trying to leave the country. Therefore, it was necessary to prevent the accused from travelling abroad in the interest of a fair investigation.
