Bangla Press Desk: Covid-19 testing has been enforced at all the sea-, land and airports of the country amid a rise in cases in neighbouring India.
On 4 June, Md Farhad Hussain, director for disease control at the Directorate General of Health Sciences, asked all port authorities to heighten the alert level, and relaunch testing campaign after a pause more than five years.
Abdul Majid, a sub-assistant medical officer at the Immigration Health Department at Benapole Checkpost, said genetic sequencing tests in India have confirmed the spread of a new Covid strain in some regions of the country.
The new genus LF.7, XFG, JN.I and NB.1.8.1 is a sub-variant of Covid strain Omicron.
