CWAB pins hopes on Nov 29 meeting to resolve delayed Dhaka League season
Bangla Press Desk: The Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) believes the fate of the delayed 2025–26 Dhaka Cricket League season hinges on a crucial tea-circle meeting scheduled for 29 November at the Westin Hotel in Dhaka.
The country’s premier 50-over club competition, which typically begins in September or October, has yet to start even as November nears its end. The prolonged delay has left hundreds of professional cricketers in a state of growing frustration, CWAB said on Thursday. Many players have reported declining morale and uncertainty over their livelihoods due to the continued suspension of club cricket.
In recent weeks, CWAB has held individual discussions with both the clubs and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in an effort to break the deadlock and narrow the differences between the two sides. The 29 November meeting, initiated by the BCB, is expected to bring all stakeholders to the same table. Representatives from the clubs and CWAB’s Central Committee will be present.
CWAB sources said professional cricketers across the country are following developments closely, viewing the upcoming discussion as a potential turning point. They believe the meeting must deliver a clear resolution if the league is to resume without further uncertainty.
Players hope the talks will produce a consensus that allows the long-delayed season to start as soon as possible.
