Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh women’s national football team had a flying start in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers as they defeated Bahrain 7-0 at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on Sunday.
This win secured the second position for coach Peter Butler’s disciples after matchday 1 of group C, as the hosts Myanmar had a commanding 8-0 victory over Turkmenistan on the same day.
Bangladesh had the perfect start of the game as the scoreline started counting on the 10th minute for the red-and-green side. Midfielder Sapna Rani’s long ball found Shamsunnahar Jr running through the right wing, who chipped over Bahrain’s goalkeeper Khulood Saleh Mohamed Adam Abdulla to score the first goal.
The lead doubled after six minutes, as Sapna Rani delivered another excellent long ball – this time to the left winger Ritu Porna Chakma. Ritu Porna ended the attack with a brilliant long ranger.
