BanglaPress Desk: Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Managing Director (MD) of Diamond World, has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of Police. He was taken into custody from the capital’s Banani area around 6:00 PM on Monday (October 19).
This was confirmed by Shafiqul Islam, chief of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch.
He stated that a case has been filed against Dilip Agarwala with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police. He was arrested at the request of the CID in connection with that case. However, no further details regarding the nature of the case were provided.
Previously, following the fall of the Awami League government, Dilip Kumar Agarwala was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 3, 2024. At that time, he faced allegations involving the smuggling of gold and diamonds, fraud, forgery, and money laundering. He was arrested during a raid on the Diamond World office in the capital’s Gulshan area late that night.
Subsequently, he was also named in a case concerning the murder of a teenager named Hridoy Ahmed in Dhaka’s Badda area. In connection with that case, he was taken into police custody for interrogation.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala was later released on bail. He has now been arrested once again in connection with a case filed with the CID.
