DMP Crackdown Across Dhaka: 406 Arrested, 50 Cases Registered
Bangla Press Desk: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 406 people in separate anti-crime drives across the capital over the 24-hour period ending at 6:00am on Tuesday, while filing 50 cases during the operations.
According to the DMP, the arrestees included 35 from Ramna Division, 36 from Lalbagh Division, 31 from Wari Division, 45 from Motijheel Division, 59 from Tejgaon Division, 120 from Mirpur Division, 32 from Gulshan Division, 43 from Uttara Division, and five by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the drives, police recovered 1.215kg of cannabis, 2,290 yaba tablets, 15 used aluminium door and window frames of various sizes, a knife, a utility cutter, five mobile phones, a motorcycle, and Tk8,350 in cash.DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi said officers conducted coordinated anti-crime drive in different police station areas across the capital, leading to the recovery of narcotics, locally made weapons and other incriminating items, alongside the arrests.
He added that legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
