DMP takes legal action against 4,061 traffic violators

The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 4,061 cases against traffic law violators in its ongoing drive in different areas of the capital during last two days.

 

Bangla Press Desk:  The traffic enforcement drives were carried out on Thursday and Friday, said Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Md Akter Hossain, in a press release today (Saturday).

According to the DMP, the traffic-Ramna Division filed 210 cases including 10 against buses, two trucks, 13 covered vans, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 81 motorcycles, BSS reports. 

The traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 155 cases including seven against buses, 10 trucks, two covered vans, eight CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 86 motorcycles.

The traffic-Motijheel Division filed 525 cases including 27 against buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 46 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 253 motorcycles.

The traffic-Wari Division also filed 525 cases including 21 against buses, 44 trucks, 49 covered vans, 83 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 218 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 213 cases including 11 against buses, four trucks, 14 covered vans, 33 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 74 motorcycles.

The traffic-Mirpur Division filed 440 cases including 29 against buses, 25 trucks, 33 covered vans, 39 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 200 motorcycles.

The traffic-Uttara Division filed 522 cases including 46 against buses, 12 trucks, 19 covered vans, 62 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 216 motorcycles.

The traffic-Gulshan Division filed the highest number of cases 1,471including 147 against buses, 30 trucks, 67 covered vans, 191 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 513 motorcycles.

During the drives, a total of 1,000 vehicles were sent to dumping yards, while 558 vehicles were towed away using wreckers.

The DMP said its Traffic Division will continue such drives to maintain traffic discipline in Dhaka metropolitan area.
